Winter coaches hired at WCHCS board meeting

At the Washington Court House City Schools Board of Education meeting on Monday evening, several winter sports coaches were approved for the season.

Keith Foster was approved to return as the head swimming coach, Susan Holloway was approved to return as the head gymnastics coach, McKinley Kelley was hired as a volunteer gymnastics coach, Buckie Caulley was approved to return as the head boys bowling coach, Anthony Amore was approved to return as the head girls bowling coach, Hannah Gotschall was hired as the JV girls bowling coach, Adam Bailey was hired as the JV boys bowling coach, Louis Reid was approved to return as the head boys wrestling coach, Jaelyn Mason was approved to return as the assistant girls wrestling coach, Keisha Ryan was hired as the head middle school girls wrestling coach, Shannon Bartruff was approved to return as the head varsity boys basketball coach, Seth Leach was approved to return as the reserve boys basketball coach, Eric Ely was approved to return as an assistant boys basketball coach, Allen Hoosier was approved to return to coach the seventh grade boys basketball team, Kory Proby was approved to return to coach the eighth grade boys basketball team, John Denen was approved to return as the head varsity girls basketball coach, Brandan Ellars was approved to return as an assistant girls basketball coach, Travis O’Connor was hired as the freshman girls basketball coach and Caitlin Chrisman was approved to return as the reserve girls basketball coach.

There was one resignation of athletic supplemental contract, which was Ryan Barton as an assistant football coach.

Also at the board meeting, several folks were approved for various areas of employment.

A Washington High School trip to New York City was approved by the school board. It will be a four-day tour of NYC that the music and art departments will take from March 27-30, 2025.

Multiple donations and funds were accepted during the treasurer’s report at the meeting.

JT Bunch and Tim Wiseman, representing the Blue Lion QB Club, gave a presentation where they shared photos and updates on the new locker room at Gardner Park. They also discussed the numerous donations that they have recently made towards the football program. They talked about a stadium wrap that is in the works to be displayed at Gardner Park, and shared their plans to eventually purchase a trailer to haul equipment for football games.

Superintendent Dr. Tom Bailey gave some facility updates for those in attendance. According to Bailey, he recently met with a group of supporters to discuss the raising of funds for an activity center which would provide additional space for athletics, arts and organized clubs.

The next WCHCS school board meeting is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 16 in the district office at 7 p.m.
