The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

Aug. 14 – 1809 Columbus Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a two (2) vehicle accident. FD found both vehicles upright, on all four (4) wheels and facing North in the Northbound Lane of travel with no visible smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD defensively positioned the apparatus to create a safe working area and control the flow of traffic. FD confirmed there was no entrapment and checked for injuries. FD checked both vehicles for safety and applied absorbency material to fluids leaking onto the roadway. FD assisted with roadway clean up.

Aug. 12 – Wagner Way

FD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. On arrival, FD found two vehicles involved. No entrapment or air bag deployment. FD checked the scene for hazards and remained on scene until released by the Washington Police Dept.

Aug. 12 – 4th St.

FD responded to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. FD arrived on scene and blocked the roadway for safety. FD checked the scene for hazards and remained on scene until released by the Washington Police Dept.

Aug. 12 – 101 Courthouse Pkwy.

FD responded to a fire alarm activation. On arrival, FD made contact with the building staff who advised the alarm was caused by a scheduled power outage to replace a utility pole. FD cleared the scene.

Aug. 11 – 1010 Mead St.

Received call on the non-emergency line from an employee reporting an alarm going off. FD did not find any smoke or fire and noted an active evacuation of the facility. Maintenance personnel advised the enunciator panel indicated the alarm was for the West riser, but there was no problem. FD was advised the building, and the riser had been checked with no problems found and the alarm system was reset just prior to FD arrival.

Aug. 10 – 809 Pin Oak Pl.

FD received a phone call advising a fire at the address. On arrival, FD performed a scene size up and no hazards were seen. FD cleared the scene. This was a malicious false call.

Aug. 9 – 930 Briar Ave.

FD received a phone call on the business line advising the rear of the house was flaming. A mutual aid engine and manpower was requested to the scene. FD arrived on scene and found no signs of fire. FD made contact with the occupant, and she advised that she has a connection to the previous false calls made to the department. FD cleared the scene.

Aug. 9 – 335 Veterans Way

FD responded to smoke in the area. On arrival, FD found a small, attended campfire in the tree line near the railroad bridge. FD made contact with the campers and advised of the burn laws. The campers extinguished the fire and FD cleared the scene.

Aug. 9 – 121 W. Elm St.

FD responded to the report of a line down. On arrival, FD checked the scene for safety and found a downed communication line near the alley. FD removed the line from the alley and cleared the scene

Aug. 9 – 2025 Columbus Ave.

FD received a phone call on the business line advising there was smoke coming out of the Harbor Freight store on Columbus Ave. While responding, dispatch advised the run was possibly a false malicious call. Firefighters arrived on scene and found no signs of fire. Firefighters checked the building and performed a 360 scene size up. No problems were found. Building staff informed firefighters and police officers of previous problems linked to a domestic issue. Firefighters cleared the scene.
