What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

Calling all true crime enthusiasts! The Carnegie Public Library is debuting a new program this month, “Only Murders in the Library.” This program is for anyone interested in mysteries, murder, and mayhem. Like a book club but for podcasts, you’ll listen to the assigned episodes for the month at home and then meet at the library to discuss the crime, the podcast, and everything in-between. Join fellow podcast enthusiasts at the library once a month to discuss the genre as we make our way through different shows!

Our inaugural meeting will be on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 12 p.m. We will be listening to “Paper Ghosts Season Two: Burned,” a podcast about a 43-year-old Ohio cold case hosted by M. William Phelps for iHeartMedia. The summary of the podcast from iHeartMedia explains “during the 1981 Fourth of July weekend, four people were found dead inside a massive farmhouse that belonged to a wealthy Ohio family. Desperate to find answers, surviving family members reached out to M. William Phelps for help. After a years-long investigation, new developments help track the movements of a new suspect and uncover a series of mysterious deaths that could expose what really happened that terrible night 40 years ago.”

Listen to the podcast on Spotify, Apple podcasts, or wherever you listen to podcasts. You can also find the links to this podcast on our website at cplwcho.org. “Only Murders in the Library” is an adult only program.

Coming up Sept. 18-21 is the Scarecrow Book Sale! The sale kicks off on Wednesday, Sept. 18 with Preview Day from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The entry fee is $3. Also on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. is a Round Table Talk with Senior Life Solutions. This month’s topic will be about suicide awareness and prevention for older adults. We will discuss how suicide and mental health impacts older adults in rural areas, as well as provide community support resources within Fayette and surrounding counties.
