Ironladies win girls golf FAC title

The Frontier Athletic Girls golfers competed in the FAC Championship on Monday, Sept. 16 at The Greens Golf Course of Fayette County.

Going into the 18-hole match, Jackson led the league with a record of 30-0 in FAC matches. Miami Trace was second at 22-8, McClain in third at 14-16, Chillicothe in fourth at 13-17, Hillsboro in fifth at 10-20 and Washington in sixth at 1-29.

The Ironladies won an outright title as they were victorious with a team score of 404, completing an undefeated season at 40-0. Miami Trace finished second with a 426 and secured a final record of 30-10. Washington placed third in the tournament with a 430 and finished the season at 7-33. McClain came in fourth with a 432 and moved their final record to 18-22. Hillsboro took fifth with a 451 which made them 12-28 to end the league season. Chillicothe placed six with a 463 and finished at 13-27.

Individually for Jackson, Aubrey Arnold led the team with an 82, followed by Alayna Hitchcock with a 99, Alia Rippeth with a 110, Ava Jenkins with a 113, Alanta Gibson with a 128 and Noel Saunders with a 134.

For Miami Trace, Emily Reeves and Ashlynd Hippely each led with a 101, followed by Rylee Ferguson with a 105, Kelsy Douglas with a 119, Alison Reeves with a 121, and Emily Keaton with a 123.

For Washington, Faith Wynne led and was the match medalist with an 81, followed by Gwendolyn Duncan with a 104, Addison Yahnwith a 118, Addylyn Mason with a 127 and Arabella Cadena with a 133.

For McClain, Kaylin Sterling led with a 95, followed by Hailey Cornett with a 109, Abbie Lovett with a 112, Reese Roble with a 116, Avery Murphy with a 121 and Emma Marsh with a 122.

For Hillsboro, Emma Yochum led with a 95, followed by Amani Cumberland with a 115, Rylea Scarberry with a 120, Blake Herdman with a 121, Halle Jones with a 122 and Addy Knauff with a 130.

For Chillicothe, Cadie Boltenhouse led with a 106, followed by Mallorie McCloy with a 113, Ista McNeal with a 121, Nia Brown with a 123 and Qiuchengxi Su with a 128.

Following the match, seven golfers were named All-FAC for the 2024 season. Aubrey Arnold of Jackson was named FAC Golfer of the Year. Also named All-FAC was Faith Wynne of Washington, Emily Reeves of Miami Trace, Kaylin Sterling of McClain, Emma Yochum of Hillsboro, Cadie Boltenhouse of Chillicothe and Alayna Hitchcock of Jackson.
