WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — At the Fayette County Commissioners meeting Monday, the commissioners signed a contract for a Bloomingburg grant.

Insight Pipe Contracting out of Pennsylvania was awarded the contract from the Bloomingburg Community Development Block Grant in the amount of approximately $70,000 to correct the infiltration problem in the McDowell Street area. Bloomingburg Mayor Donald Fleak said the main sewer line in that area is very old.

Infiltration refers to groundwater that infiltrates or leaks into pipes. Insight Pipe is a provider of rehabilitation services for wastewater, stormwater, and other underground utilities. They can use trenchless technologies to fix the sewer line.

The commissioners also set the bid opening date of Sept. 30 for the Wilmington Raw Water Intake Pump Rehab for 9 a.m. The bid was advertised and bids are due by the end of the month.

Fayette County Engineer Jason Little spoke to the commissioners to give them updates on certain engineering projects ongoing at this time. He said that the Creamer Road bridge was unexpectedly closed for emergency repairs near State Route 41 and the Menard’s facility.
