Chillicothe, Jackson tie for FAC boys golf title

JACKSON — The 18-hole Frontier Athletic Conference Championship took place on Tuesday, Sept. 17 at Franklin Valley Golf Course.

Going into the match, the Ironmen led the league with a record of 28-2 in FAC matches, followed by Chillicothe at 26-4, Hillsboro at 12-18, Washington at 9-21, McClain at 8-22 and Miami Trace at 7-23.

Chillicothe won the match on Tuesday with a 310, making their final record 36-4, Jackson finished second with a 318 and also finished 36-4, McClain placed third with a 351 which put their final record at 14-26, Washington placed fourth with a 359 and finished 13-27, Hillsboro took fifth with a 359 to make their record 14-26 and Miami Trace came in sixth with a 364 to move their final record to 7-33.

The final standings had Chillicothe and Jackson as Co-Champions, McClain and Hillsboro tied for third place, Washington in fifth place and Miami Trace in sixth place.

Aidan Fischer was the match medalist, shooting a 70 for one-under par on the day.

Individually for the Cavaliers, Fischer led with a 70, followed by Jackson Oyer with a 78, Vincent Haller with a 79, Kooper Elliott with an 83, JB Maravilla with a 97 and Jackson McNeal with a 116.

Individually for Jackson, Noah Ernst led with a 78, followed by Parker Holsteion with a 79, Garison Marcum with an 80, Easton McGraw with an 81 and Rylan Wyant and Dalton Kight each with an 84.

Individually for McClain, Connor Chandler and Carter Nelson each led with an 81, followed by Carson Chandler with a 94, Leland Ewry with a 95 and Jeremy Webb and Alex Perie each with a 100.

Individually for Washington, Logan Clevenger led with an 82, followed by Shane Crago with a 90, Nathan Snyder with a 93, Sam Lotz with a 94, Will Miller with a 95 and Bryson Heath with a 108.

Individually for Hillsboro, Tate Davis led with an 85, followed by Walker Pence with an 88, Conner Kelch with a 92, Logan Barton with a 94, Jack Cornele with a 99 and Logan Zurface with a 112.

Individually for Miami Trace, Carter Davidson led with an 85, followed by Gage Bowers with an 86, Cade Whitaker with a 96, Gabe Carson with a 97, Cole Whiteside with a 98 and Gavin Cottrill with a 123.

As for All-FAC honors, seven players were recognized including four from Jackson and three from Chillicothe.

From Jackson, Pareker Holsteion, Noah Ernst, Garison Marcum and Easton McGraw were named All-FAC while Aidan Fischer, Jackson Oyer and Vincent Haller were named All-FAC for Chillicothe.

Fischer was also named the 2024 FAC Boys Golfer of the Year.

Postseason play will begin next week with Washington and McClain competing in the DII Southeast North Sectional Tournament at Jaycees Golf Course in Chillicothe. The tournament will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 9 a.m.

Chillicothe, Hillsboro, Jackson and Miami Trace will compete in the DI Southeast Sectional Tournament on Monday, Sept. 30 at 9 a.m. at Crown Hills Golf Course in Williamsport.
