MT announces homecoming royalty

Dylaney Templin and Gaige Stuckey were crowned 2024 Homecoming Queen and King during a ceremony at Miami Trace High School Thursday, Sept. 19, 2024. Miami Trace’s homecoming football game is Friday, Sept. 27 when the Panthers take on the Hillsboro Indians.

On Thursday afternoon, Miami Trace High School held an assembly to announce its 2024 homecoming king and queen — Gaige Stuckey and Dylaney Templin.

Dylaney is the daughter of Justin Templin and Felicia Grim. Dylaney is involved in softball, basketball cheer, and football cheer. After high school, Dylaney plans to attend a four-year university to become a labor and delivery nurse.

Gaige is the son of Davey and Stacey Stuckey. Gaige is involved in football and baseball. After graduation, Gaige plans to continue his academic and baseball career at Ohio University whilst studying business management.

At the end of the assembly, student government members Emma Bower and Hunter Chace took the stage to announce the queen and king. Both Stuckey and Templin thanked those that voted for them and wished everyone a safe and fun Homecoming week.

Miami Trace’s homecoming week kicks off on Monday, Sept. 23. Miami Trace’s homecoming football game is Friday, Sept. 27 when the Panthers take on the Hillsboro Indians.

MTHS intervention specialist Amy Hackley kicked off the ceremony.

“We would like to welcome all of the family members of the attendants to our crowning ceremony. We are happy to have you join us for this exciting occasion. Lastly, we would like to thank Robbins Village Florist in Greenfield for the beautiful bouquets, Patchwork Gardens for the flowers on the stage, and we would also like to thank our student government president Zoey Blanton and all of our student government members for their hard work preparing for the homecoming festivities. I couldn’t do it without you,” said Hackley.

The 2024 homecoming attendants were then introduced.

The freshman attendants are Lily Siler and Gabe Carson. Lily Siler is the daughter of Justin and Angela Siler. Lily is involved in soccer, cross country, indoor track, outdoor track, FCA, FFA and is the freshman class president. Lily is also involved in her church and American Heritage Girls. Gabe Carson is the son of Michael and Mary Ann Carson. Gabe is involved in FCA, FFA, golf, cross country, baseball, and wrestling. Outside of school, Gabe is involved in Crossroads Christian Church, youth group, and 4-H.

The sophomore attendants are Rylee Ferguson and Quinton Marine. Rylee is the daughter of Mike and Beth Ferguson. Rylee is involved in FFA, FCCLA, FCA, Spanish Club, golf and basketball. She is also involved in Crossroads Christian Church and is a past 4-H member. Quinton Marine is the son of Brandon and Gina Marine. Quinton is involved in wrestling. He also wrestles with different teams at tournaments year round.

The junior attendants are Cali Kirkpatrick and Gus Wilt. Cali is the daughter of Brent and Sarah Kirkpatrick. Cali is involved in football cheer, basketball, FCA, and an active member in FFA. She is also involved in her church, youth group, and 4-H. Gus Wilt is the son of Matt Wilt and the late Christie Wilt. Gus is involved in FFA. Outside of school, Gus is involved in his church, 4-H, Ohio Jr. Simmental Association, and American Jr. Simmental Association.

The senior homecoming king and queen nominees were then announced.

The first senior nominees were Lydia Abare and Drystyn Cowman. Lydia is the daughter of Janet and Andrew Abare. Lydia’s dream is to go on “America’s Got Talent” and become a singer. She has been involved in basketball, track and volleyball. She loves to shop, attend concerts, and spend time with her friends. After high school, Lydia plans to attend cosmetology school and complete business and management classes through online college courses. She plans to become an owner of her own salon. Drystyn is the son of Mindy Butcher. Drystyn enjoys building and repairing things in his spare time. After graduation, Drystyn would like to get an apprenticeship in HVAC.

The next senior nominees were Zoey Blanton and Brice Perkins. Zoey is the daughter of Kimberly Tomlin. She is involved in student government, MiTra yearbook class, and track. Zoey is also the senior class president. After graduating, Zoey would like to go into the work force for web programming in Kentucky. Brice Perkins is the son of Greg and Jenny Perkins. He is involved in football, wrestling, and track. After graduating, Brice would like to go to pilot school and become a commercial pilot.

The next senior nominees were Madison Cory and Zachary Gallagher. Madison is the daughter of Tyler and Michelle Cory. Madison is involved in soccer, swim, marching band, FFA, and 4-H. After graduation, Madison plans to continue her education in nursing. Zachary Gallagher is the son of Zach Gallagher and Tina Chhoeun. Zach is involved in drama club, tennis, student government, key club, and graphic design. After graduating, Zach plans to attend college and major in biomedical engineering.

The next senior nominees were Carley Payton and Levi Morrison. Carley is the daughter of Kathy and Chad Payton. Carley is involved in musicals, art, FFA, plays, and FCA. Carley is currently taking acting classes taught by Disney and Nickelodeon stars. After graduation, Carley plans to study musical theater. Levi Morrison is the son of Dan and Suzanne Morrison. Levi is involved in soccer, football, Academic Quiz Bowl, tennis, and FCA. After high school, Levi plans to attend college and major in intelligence analysis or homeland security.

The final senior nominees were Dylaney Templin and Gaige Stuckey.

The ceremony concluded with Hackley reminding everyone that homecoming tickets will be on sale beginning Tuesday, Sept. 24 during lunch period and will be $10 each.
