Miami Trace’s ‘Spirit Week’ kicks off Monday

Miami Trace Local School District has many exciting events scheduled for this year’s homecoming, starting next week with homecoming Spirit Week.

On Sept. 23, they will kick off Spirit Week with Teen Beach Movie Monday (Surfers vs Bikers). On Trading Places Tuesday, students will dress as teachers and teachers will dress as students. On Wednesday it will be Pink Day. For Thursday, students are asked to dress as their favorite Disney character. Wrapping up the week on Friday will be Panther Pride Color Wars. Freshmen will wear gold, sophomores will wear white, juniors will wear gray and seniors will wear black. Staff will wear their favorite Panther gear.

Wednesday, Sept. 25 will be the homecoming community celebration, featuring food vendors, a parade and a pep rally from 6-7:30 p.m.

The food truck area will open at 6 p.m. and will be located behind the home bleachers at Tony’s Welding and Fabrication Stadium.

Participating vendors include Kona Ice, KK’s Grubb Hubb, Hot Diggity Dog, Debra Grover’s Lemonade, Nunny’s Rolled Ice Cream and Super Sport Pizza and Wings.

Those involved in the parade will line up at 6:30 p.m. in front of Miami Trace High School, with the parade set to begin at 6:45 p.m. The parade will end near the baseball field.

Activities are scheduled to take place on the football field from 7-7:30 p.m.

Rob Pittser is the emcee for the activities. The marching band will have a performance on the field, followed by a performance from the cheer team. The homecoming court will be introduced and then some games will take place. Head Football Coach Jerry Williams will give a speech, followed by a speech from the senior football captains and finally a closing message.

The homecoming football game will be Friday, Sept. 27 against Hillsboro at 7 p.m.

Finally, the week will end with the homecoming dance, “A Night in the Enchanted Garden,” on Sept. 28 from 8-10 p.m.
