The Miami Trace Middle School boys soccer team recently recorded a pair of victories.

They defeated the unbeaten Leesburg Fairfield Lions on Saturday, Sept. 14 by a score of 1-0. Xzavier Pedroza came through with the game winner scoring off of a corner kick played into the box by Cam Thoroman (assist to Thoroman).

On Monday, Sept. 16, the young Panthers defeated the previously undefeated (5-0-1) Lynchburg-Clay Mustangs, 3-2.

Xander Wilson slid by the Mustang defense, collected a through ball from Cam Thoroman, and scored the opening goal, assist to Thoroman.

Miami Trace led 1-0 at the half.

Lynchburg-Clay got the equalizer about ten minutes into the second half.

The Panthers’ Cam Thoroman drew a foul at the top of the penalty box then made the Mustangs pay by scoring on the direct free kick that followed.

Lynchburg-Clay was pressing to score and eventually tied it up 2-2 with roughly 3:30 to go in the game.

Immediately following the tying Lynchburg-Clay score, Thoroman took the kick off down the field and scored to put the Panthers ahead for good by the final margin of 3-2.

The Miami Trace Middle School boys soccer team is now 8-0-0 on the season. The Panthers have scored 42 goals.

The defense, comprised of goalkeeper Nolan LeBeau, sweeper Ryan Hatert, right back Mason Carper, left back Zakiah Weaver, and stopper Luke Robinette, has posted six shutouts and only allowed three goals this season.
