Miami Trace volleyball takes another step toward 3rd straight FAC title; beats Chillicothe in 4 sets

CHILLICOTHE — The Miami Trace High School varsity volleyball team continued its quest for a third consecutive Frontier Athletic Conference championship upon visiting Chillicothe High School Tuesday, Sept. 24.

Miami Trace improved to 7-0 in the FAC and 15-1 overall with a four set win over the Cavaliers.

Scores of the sets were: 25-14, 25-11, 19-25 and 25-21.

Addyson Butts led Miami Trace with 23 kills.

Lauren Farrens had eight kills, Lauren Guess had six kills and six blocks and Allison Carter had three ace serves and 12 digs.

Miami Trace will host the McClain Tigers Thursday. A win over McClain will clinch at least a tie for the FAC with Hillsboro.

Miami Trace has a two-game lead over Hillsboro with three matches to play.

Hillsboro is 5-2, Chillicothe is 4-3, McClain is 3-4 and Washington and Jackson are both 1-6 in the FAC.

Hillsboro defeated Washington in straight sets on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 25-23, 25-21 and 25-11.

McClain beat Jackson in five sets Tuesday, Sept. 24, 25-17, 25-21, 21-25, 23-25, 15-7.

Miami Trace is ranked No. 16 in the state this week in the Division III coaches poll.
