Panthers compete in Sectional golf tournament

WILLIAMSPORT — The DI Southeast District Sectional boys golf tournament took place on Monday morning at Crown Hill Golf Club.

A total of nine schools participated in the tournament, including Athens, Chillicothe, Hillsboro, Jackson, Logan, Marietta, Miami Trace, Sheridan and Warren.

The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team would advance to the District tournament.

The four qualifying teams in order were Sheridan with a 319, Chillicothe with a 321, Marietta with a 351 and Warren with a 354.

In fifth was Jackson with a 360, followed by Logan with a 374, Hillsboro with a 381, Athens with a 394 and Miami Trace with a 398.

The four individual qualifiers were Conner Kelch of Hillsboro with an 84, Marshall McCament of Athens with an 87, Garison Marcum of Jackson with an 87 and Gage Mundy of Logan with an 88.

The individual Sectional Champion was Aidan Fischer of Chillicothe, shooting a 72 for an even par for the tournament.

Individually for the Cavaliers, Fischer led with the 72, followed by Vincent Haller with an 80, Jackson Oyer with an 83, Kooper Elliott with an 86 and JB Maravilla with a 107.

Individually for the Indians, Kelch led with an 84, followed by Jack Cornele with a 97, Walker Pence with a 99, and Tate Davis with a 101.

Individually for the Ironmen, Marcum led with an 87, followed by Parker Holsteion and Rylan Wyant each with a 90, Noah Ernst with a 93 and Easton McGraw with a 96.

Individually for the Panthers, Carter Davidson led with a 94, followed by Gage Bowers with a 95, Cole Whiteside with a 101, Gavin Cottrill with a 108 and Cade Whitaker with a 121.

The D1 Southeast District Tournament is set for Monday, Oct. 7 at Eaglesticks golf course in Zanesville.
