WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — A 38-year-old woman was arrested this week on accusations of strangling and assaulting her ex-boyfriend.

On Tuesday evening, Washington Police Department officers responded to McNair Men’s Mission, 503 Lewis St., on a call of a man being choked by Ashley D. Shepherd, who reportedly already departed at the time officers arrived.

According to reports, the victim was informed that someone was outside of the building requesting to speak with him. The victim told police he told Shepherd that “they are now ex-boyfriend/girlfriend, and he wanted nothing to do with her.”

Shepherd then allegedly grabbed his throat and started strangling him. The victim advised he could not breathe.

According to police, a surveillance camera video showed Shepherd strangling the victim.

The officers located Shepherd a short time later when she returned to McNair and yelled at the victim. Police placed Shepherd under arrest and transported her to the Fayette County Jail where she is being held on a $10,000 bond.

Shepherd is charged with fourth-degree felony strangulation and first-degree misdemeanor assault.
