What’s happening at Carnegie Public Library?

It is time for Carnegie Public Library’s Great Pumpkin Show, where creativity meets community! This event invites people of all ages to decorate their own pumpkins at home and bring them to the library for a special display. Here’s how it works: 1. Grab a pumpkin from a local farm or store. Choose your favorite size and shape! 2. Get creative! Use paint, markers, glitter, and other craft supplies to decorate your pumpkin. Let your imagination run wild—go for spooky, silly, or seasonal designs – just keep it family friendly! 3. Bring your “Great Pumpkin” to the library between Oct. 14 and 18. The library will have a designated area to showcase these awesome creations. 4. Enjoy the show! All pumpkins will be on display until Nov. 1. Please do not puncture or carve your pumpkin. We will dispose of rotting pumpkins.

Coming up, the library will be closed Friday, Oct. 11, for staff in-service, and Monday, Oct. 14 in observance of Columbus Day. The library will be open regular hours (10 a.m. -2 p.m.) Saturday, Oct. 12, and Tuesday, Oct. 15 and beyond.

For children and families: Join us for storytime! Preschool aged children and their siblings are invited to “Bonnie’s Books” in Jeffersonville on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Children will listen to a story, make a craft, play, and socialize. This program is held at Jeffersonville United Methodist Church. Then, each Thursday at 10:30 a.m., in the library meeting room, Miss Raina leads “Little Wigglers” storytime. This storytime is for our youngest patrons and includes music, rhyming, and reading and is designed for babies and toddlers, ages birth to 3. And, on Fridays at 11 a.m., Mr. Aaron hosts “Kindergarten Gear Up”! Intended for ages 4-5, this storytime features a curriculum designed to prepare kids for their first year of school. Home School Library Day takes place each Wednesday at 1 p.m. This program is for children ages 5-12, and their families. On Home School Day, the library is yours! Librarians will provide an activity or program each week focusing on STEM, Art, Books, and more. This is a great opportunity to network with other homeschool students and families.

For adults: On Saturday, Oct. 12, at 11 a.m., is the BYOB Book Club! Have you always wanted to join a book club but couldn’t commit or are tired of assigned reads? This casual book club is for you! This is a book club with a twist; readers are invited to discuss books, old and new, and share recommendations. On Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., enjoy Yoga in the Garden! Librarian and certified yoga instructor Averie will teach yoga poses you can easily reproduce at home. Bring water and wear comfortable clothing. In the event of rain, we will move our practice inside.

All programs are free unless otherwise noted. Some programs require registration.
