FCPH releases food inspection reports

The following are food inspection reports recently released by Fayette County Public Health:

Streetside 62, 2007 Columbus Ave. – July 24, 2024

Several food items did not have date markings inside the walk-in cooler. Perishable food held more than 24 hours must be date marked and discarded in seven days for food safety.

Pizza Oven found heavily soiled and encrusted with grease. Food contact surfaces and food equipment such as ovens must be cleaned at a frequency necessary to keep them clean and free of grease deposit accumulation.

Chicken, ham, ribs, chopped lettuce and pasta found without date markings. Sliced mushrooms also found without dates inside kitchen prep table cooler and walk-in cooler. Perishable food held more than 24 hours must be date marked and discarded within seven days for food safety. These were backdated during the inspection according to when employee stated they were prepped. In the pizza prep cooler, artichoke dip found without date mark and marked during inspection.

Soil accumulation found in the following areas:

Walk-in cooler – floor, fan guards, shelves and under shelves.

Pizza prep area – floor, shelves, walls, baseboard, pizza hood.

Kitchen – floor, baseboards, walls, ceiling, fryers, grill area.

Mop sink area – walls, mo sink, floor.

Walk-in freezer – floor, shelves.

Stagnant water still found in sealed prep cooler located in kitchen.

Food prep sink has duct tape wrapped around legs and a catch bucket underneath full of water.

Food containers found cracked. Food contact surfaces must be free of cracks, smooth and easily cleanable.

No test strips provided for chemical sanitizer. No waste basket for kitchen hand wash. Dishes found stacked while wet on clean equipment rack in kitchen.

St. Catherine’s Manor of WCH, 250 Glenn Ave. – July 24, 2024

Perishable food found past expiration dates and must be discarded within seven days for food safety.

All of the food temperatures were good.

Ground turkey, gravy, egg salad, peaches, pork all discarded during inspection. Diced potatoes, perishable food held more than 24 hours must be discarded in seven days for food safety.

Soil accumulation found in these areas:

Kitchen – baseboards, prep table, shelves where pots and pans are stored, utensil drawers.

Storage room – floor under storage shelves, baseboards.

Dining room – floor, baseboards, walls near ice machine.

A few pitchers, bowls and plastic cups found heavily scratched and no longer easily cleanable. Food contact surfaces such as dishes must be smooth and easily cleanable to prevent contamination.

Carriage Court WCH, 500 Glenn Ave. – July 25, 2024

ServSafe certification available but no ODH food safety certification. Employees must be properly trained in food safety.

Improper cold holding for perishable food inside sandwich prep cooler. Perishable food in a cold holding state must be 41 degrees F and below for food safety.

Ice machine and dishes found soiled. Food contact surfaces must be cleaned to sight and touch to prevent contamination.

Sour cream found at 46 degrees F. Deli meat (bologna,) at 48 degrees F inside sandwich prep cooler in kitchen. Items discarded: turkey and cheese sandwich, bologna.

Ice accumulation found on inner back of cooler. Perishable food may not be stored inside until inspected, repaired and deemed safe to use.

Spatulas found heavily scratched and burned on sides. Food contact surfaces such as utensils must be smooth and easily cleanable to prevent contamination. Discarded.

No lighting inside refrigerator in main kitchen. Also, leaks underneath cooler.

Mold residue found inside ice machine located in main kitchen.

A few food pans and colander found stored on clean equipment shelf with food residue. Food contact surfaces must be cleaned to sight and touch to prevent contamination. Can opener blade also found heavily soiled.

Raid spray found stored inside mop closet. These chemicals are not permitted on the premises. Toxic chemicals may only be applied by a licensed applicator.

Soil accumulation found in these areas:

Main kitchen – floor, baseboards, under and behind equipment, floor drains, hand wash sink, walls.

Dining room – cabinets.

Kitchenette – under dish sink (cabinet), In the process of remodeling.

McDonald’s, 1401 Leesburg Ave. – July 25, 2024

Sandwich station toppings held without temperature control. All were dated and within expiration period. All food temperatures were found within safe zone. Food observed from approved source.

Follow-up

Dishes still found stacked while wet on clean equipment rack. Allow dishes to air dry prior to stacking.

Food equipment observed was in good condition, free of cracks, easily cleanable.

Soil/grease accumulation still found in oven. Food contact surfaces such as cooking equipment must be cleaned at a frequency necessary to keep clean to prevent contamination.

Materials are now available for bodily fluid kit for vomit and diarrhea clean up procedures.
