WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The Fayette County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Monday and awarded a contract for the subsurface drainage project at the county farm to Fleak Brothers Farm Drainage for $278,176.83, and approved both phase one and phase two to be completed.

The commissioners said the funding was available to do both phases of the job that were bid. The bid opening took place on Sept. 30 with six bids received. The Fayette County Engineer’s Office held the bid opening for the Fayette County Soil and Water agency, the entity requesting the project.

The bids were opened for the Wilmington Valve Replacement project regarding the water being piped in from Caesar Creek to the Honda plant area. There was only one bid in the amount of $559,100; the engineer’s office estimate was $395,260. The estimate is being reviewed by the engineer’s office, according to Jason Little. He said the cost of certain parts for the project was higher than expected.

Little also announced that the Creamer Road bridge repair has been completed and the area is open for traffic again.

Lori Bach, director of the Commission on Aging, addressed the commissioners to request an additional amount of $20,000 for their 2025 budget. She discussed their monies and investments available to the COA.
