The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

Sept. 16 –99 Summit Ln. 127

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a fire alarm activation, caller advises of an odor and sees light smoke. FD did not find any visible smoke or fire and noted no active evacuation at the time of arrival. FD did not find any smoke, nor did it note an audible alarm at the time of making entry. FD confirmed the alarm at the enunciator panel, zone 64 – unit 127. FD made contact with the occupants) of apartment 127 who reported no fire or other problem. FD checked the apartment and did not find any sign(s) of either smoke or fire. FD made contact with the caller who reported seeing a faint haze and odor of smoke near the end of the hallway close to the entry / exit door. FD investigation did not find any problem and had the on-site representative reset the alarm system.

Sept. 16 – US 22 SE

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for a one vehicle rollover MVA with no entrapment. Upon arrival FD found a vehicle on its side located in a field on the north side of the roadway with all occupants out of the vehicle. Vehicle was checked and any hazards found were removed. FD cleared the scene giving control to the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.

Sept. 14 – 203 Glenn Ave.

FD responded to a fire alarm activation. FD was cancelled en route.

Sept. 14 – 3448 US 22

FD responded to a small garden fire. On arrival, FD found mulch burning against the brick structure near the doorway. FD extinguished the fire and cleared the scene.

Sept. 14 – 628 Eastern Ave.

FD responded to the report of smoke in a house. On arrival, FD found light smoke showing inside the house. Investigation found burnt food inside the microwave. FD ventilated the structure and cleared the scene.

Sept. 13 – 652 Warren Ave.

Received a call on the station phone referencing a controlled burn in the backyard of the listed address. Upon arrival, FD found an occupied burn of seasoned firewood. Occupant was notified of the state burn ban and to extinguish the fire.

Sept. 13 – US 22 W

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a two (2) vehicle rollover accident with injuries, unknown on ejection and / or entrapment. FD found both vehicles upright, on all four (4) wheels, one (1) vehicle facing South in the intersection and the other facing West in the Northbound lane of travel with no visible smoke or fire at the time of arrival. FD defensively positioned the apparatus to control traffic, create safe work area, confirmed there was no entrapment and checked both vehicles for safety. FD applied oil absorbency to fluids leaking onto the roadway, dedicated two (2) personnel to assist with patient care and packaging and assisted with general clean-up.

Sept. 13 – 101 Courthouse Pkwy.

Received station tone for a fire alarm activation zone 75 no other location given. Upon arrival FD found no smoke or fire with fire alarm still activated. Once inside FD personnel were advised by staff that there was a drone battery that fell and caught the carpet on fire. FD found light smoke and several burn marks on the carpet within a conference room on the first floor. There was no fire at time of FD arrival. FD applied water with foam agent to ensure complete extinguishment. Battery involved was already removed to the outside of the building, it was checked and cooled as well. FD ventilated smoke from the area involved. Battery owner was advised to carry an enclosed metal container in the future in case this type of incident happens again.
