It is time for Carnegie Public Library’s Great Pumpkin Show, where creativity meets community! This event invites people of all ages to decorate their own pumpkins at home and bring them to the library for a special display. Here’s how it works: 1. Grab a pumpkin from a local farm or store. Choose your favorite size and shape! 2. Get creative! Use paint, markers, glitter, and other craft supplies to decorate your pumpkin. Let your imagination run wild—go for spooky, silly, or seasonal designs – just keep it family friendly! 3. Bring your “Great Pumpkin” to the library this week- between Oct. 14 and 18. The library will have a designated area to showcase these awesome creations. 4. Enjoy the show! All pumpkins will be on display until Nov. 1. Please do not puncture or carve your pumpkin. We will dispose of rotting pumpkins.

For children and families: Join us for Storytime! Preschool aged children and their siblings are invited to “Bonnie’s Books” in Jeffersonville on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Children will listen to a story, make a craft, play, and socialize. This program is held at Jeffersonville United Methodist Church. Then, each Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in the library meeting room, Miss Raina leads “Little Wigglers” Storytime. This Storytime is for our youngest patrons and includes music, rhyming, and reading and is designed for babies and toddlers, ages birth to 3. On Fridays at 11 a.m., Mr. Aaron hosts “Hello, Friends.” Intended for ages 3-5, this Storytime features books, music, and playtime.

Home School Library Day takes place each Wednesday at 1 p.m. This program is for children ages 5-12 and their families. On Home School Day, the library is yours! Librarians will provide an activity or program each week focusing on STEM, Art, Books, and more. This is a great opportunity to network with other homeschool students and families.

For adults: On Tuesday, Oct. 15, at 11 a.m., enjoy Yoga in the Garden! Librarian and certified yoga instructor Averie will teach yoga poses you can easily reproduce at home. Bring water and wear comfortable clothing. In the event of rain, we will move our practice inside. On Friday, Oct. 18, dive into a world of originality with Library Director Sarah at The Artists Book Club. Prior to the meeting, read “Lisette’s List: A Novel” by Susan Vreeland. Please contact Sarah if you wish to attend: [email protected].

On Saturday, Oct. 19, at 11 a.m., relax and create at Crochet for Adults. Beginner and experienced crocheters are welcome to join our monthly crochet program! Then at noon, join fellow enthusiasts to discuss true crime podcasts at “Only Murders in the Library.” This month, we will be discussing the disappearance of Brian Shaffer. Before the program, listen to “True Crime Garage” episodes 290 & 291 (Brian Shaffer: Revisited /// Part 1/// 290 & Brian Shaffer: Revisited /// Part 2/// 291).

All programs are free unless otherwise noted. Some programs require registration. For details about the reading challenge or any of the fun programs, please visit us at the library or give us a call at 740-335-2540.
