WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — Last week, Greg Phipps was honored with the prestigious role of “i” dotter during the annual Script Lions performance at the homecoming game. The honor recognized Phipps’ lifetime of dedication and service to Washington Court House City Schools.

A proud alumnus of the Class of 1986, Phipps returned to the halls of Washington in 1997 as a faculty member. Over the next 27 years, he served as a Blue Lion teacher and coach, and most recently as the district’s athletic director, a position he held until his retirement this past spring.

The tradition of Script Lions, a highlight of the Blue Lion Marching Band and Alumni Band’s halftime performance at the homecoming game, culminates each year with the dotting of the “i.” This role, one of the highest honors BLMB bestows upon non-members, is reserved for individuals who have made an extraordinary impact throughout their life.

With nearly three decades of service, Phipps has had an enduring influence on countless students and colleagues. His contributions both in the classroom and on the courts have left an indelible mark throughout the community.

Phipps’ “i” dotting was met with cheers and applause from the stands, as the community celebrated his exceptional dedication to the Blue Lion Family.
