The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

Aug. 27 – 320 Forest St.

FD was dispatched to an accident with injuries. Upon arrival, FD established a safe working area and checked vehicle for any hazards. FD remained on scene until released by the Washington Police Dept.

Aug. 27 – 1135 E. Temple St.

FD received station tone for smoke coming out of an exhaust vent, advised the smoke had stopped. FD performed a 360 of the building with nothing found. FD inspected exhaust vents on the exterior of the building with a thermal imager and checked the service area behind the dryers inside. Nothing was found. FD advised employees that vents and maintenance areas behind the dryers need cleaned to remove built up debris.

Aug. 26 – 222 Hickory St.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a caller advising there is visible smoke and a burning smell coming from the machine shop at the rear of the residence, believes there is an attic fire. FD found a light haze in the area and no visible fire at the time of arrival. The owner / occupant reported everyone was out and that embers and fire were noticed coming from around the chimney at the roof line. Occupants advised water from a garden hose was sprayed prior to FD arrival. FD accessed the attic areas and found light smoke with no visible fire. FD performed salvage procedures and opened an inspection hole in the ceiling near the chimney and found embers and a small fire at / near the roof truss next to the chimney. FD opened a hole in the roof to access the truss from both the top and bottom, extinguished the smoldering fire and overhauled the immediate area surrounding the chimney.

Aug. 21 – 425 Lewis St.

FD received a call reporting a smoke detector activation and smell of smoke. Resident reported not seeing any smoke. FD checked residence along with the attic space visually and with a thermal imaging camera. FD checked HVAC camera and electrical panel, nothing found.

Aug. 20 – 90 Summit Ln., Apt. 119

Received station tone from Fayette County Sheriff’s Office for a fire alarm activation in room 119. Upon arrival, FD found no visible smoke or flames from the exterior of the building. FD made contact with the resident of the room and found light smoke with no fire, inside the apartment due to cooking. FD opened windows to ventilate the smoke. Once ventilation was complete, all windows were resecured, and FD cleared the scene.

Aug. 20 – 1046 SR 41 SW

Received station tone from Fayette County Sheriff’s Office of wires down and arcing. Upon arrival Fayette County Sheriff’s Office was on scene blocking the Northbound lane of the road. Cable lines were found across the roadway, and the service line to the residences were pulled from the structures.

AES power company was contacted and cleared the roadway. The scene was turned over to AES, no further from FD was needed.

Aug. 18 – 828 E. Market St.

FD received a call to investigate an odor of natural gas. FD checked residence and did not detect any hazards.

Aug. 17 – 451 W. Circle Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting an automated crash detection alert. FD did not find any crash or disabled vehicle at the time of arrival. FD coordinated with other agencies and located the phone that transmitted the call. FD turned control of the scene over to officers from the Washington Police Dept.

Aug. 16 – 2202 Kenskill Ave.

FD received call for a fire alarm activation in the showroom. FD was met by maintenance personnel and accessed the building. FD performed a walkthrough of the entire structure and did not locate any hazards. Maintenance personnel were able to successfully reset the alarm system. Advised personnel to have alarm system checked.

Aug. 14 – 612 Lamar Ct.

Received a call on station phone of lines down in the yard. Upon arrival, FD personnel found phone lines still attached but hanging low in the side yard. A safe area was established with caution tape. Homeowner had already contacted phone company for repairs. No further action by FD
