WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — The Fayette County Regional Humane Society held its 12th-annual Walk Against Animal Cruelty on Saturday at Washington Park, and raised money for law enforcement and rescue equipment needed to perform their many duties.

A $25 walking fee was charged and the purchase of special t-shirts for the event was an additional cost. According to Chief Humane Agent Brad Adams, 101 persons signed up for the walk.

Fayette County Box 65, a part of the Washington Fire Department, set up on the grounds to offer free water to the human guests. Hills Pet Nutrition helped sponsor the event and set up the “big dog,” a tent to offer pet treats, and a water pool to supply water to the canine guests.

Other sponsors for this event were Parrott Insurance, Merchants Bank, Fayette County Travel & Tourism, Unleashed Dog Boarding Suites, Morrison Group Real Estate, See’s Hacienda, Dean and Gypsy Myers and “Smokey,” and Ultimate Car Shine.

There were raffles and fun for all. Hills Pet Nutrition donated a large dog gift basket and a cat basket. The winner of the dog basket was Tammy Mick. The winner of the cat basket was Cassie Koski. There were many other donations and gift cards raffled off as well.

FRHS Executive Director Lee Schrader DVM, said the society is a non-profit entity and welcomes all donations and corporate sponsorship donations because they are not government funded.
