The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

Sept. 2 – 1597 Old Chillicothe Road SE

FD responded to the report of a field fire. On arrival, FD found a small fire in the field that extended into a tree line. Mutual aid was requested from Wayne Twp. FD for a grass unit. FD extinguished the fire and cleared the scene.

Sept. 1 – 1144 E. Paint St.

Received call on station phone referencing trash being burnt in the back yard in the 1100 block of E. Paint St. Upon investigation, FD found an appropriate cooking fire at the rear of the listed address with very light smoke. Fire was contained in an appropriate pit with no trash or evidence of trash being burnt at this time.

Sept. 1 – Leesburg Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting an automated crash detection alert. FD did not find any accident at the time of arrival and defensively positioned the apparatus to establish a safe working area and control traffic flow. FD spoke with an officer from the Washington Police Department and assisted with investigating.

Sept. 1 – 3284 Yeoman Road NW

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a field fire. FD found moderate light gray smoke in the area and approximately a tenth of an acre burnt with small spot fires around the perimeter at the time of arrival. FD defensively positioned the water supply apparatus to create a safe working area and control traffic. FD grass unit extinguished and canvased the area for smoldering hot spots.

Aug. 30 – 225 E. Market St.

FD was requested to first respond for Fayette County EMS

Aug. 30 – 231 N. Oakland Ave.

FD was requested for assistance with a smoke detector. FD made contact and installed a new smoke detector.

Aug. 29 – 14 Colonial Ct.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting an odor of gas in the residence, requesting it to be checked. FD investigation did not detect any natural gas leak(s) at the furnace or hot water heater. FD also checked the crawl space and did not detect the presence of natural gas or sewer gas. FD investigation also checked for the presence of carbon-monoxide and did not detect any at the time of the check.

Aug. 29 – 1290 Dayton Ave. NW

Received report of a detached and / or sagging line(s) on a shed roof. FD did find a low-hanging telecommunications line running across the rear of the cooperty at the time of arrival. FD investigation determined the line (s) were still attached at the pole on both ends. FD advised the caller to contact the phone company to report the issue and schedule to have repairs made.

Aug. 28 – 318 Delaware St.

FD received call requesting a gas check. FD checked the interior and exterior of the residence with monitoring equipment and did not detect anything at this time.
