The Miami Trace Panthers (11-0, 5-0 FAC) looked to stay unbeaten as they began the second round of Frontier Athletic Conference volleyball action by hosting Jackson (2-9, 1-4 FAC) on Thursday evening.

The Lady Panthers would sweep the Ironladies, winning in two sets at the j-v level and in three sets at the varsity level.

In the j-v match, Miami Trace won 26-24 and 25-16.

In the varsity match, the Lady Panthers won 25-19, 25-14 and 25-9.

Miami Trace head coach Doug Mace spoke following the victory.

“We came out and seemed a little flat, I think because there was a lot that happened Tuesday night at Washington. That’s the big rivalry game and they had a lot of things going on there. We came in a little bit flat but we picked it up in the second and third game. Also, this was the second time around for us playing Jackson, so they kind of knew how to handle us a little bit better. I thought they played us pretty well in the first two games. They’ve got a freshman setter, and I think that as she keeps going, she’s going to keep improving for them and they are going to get better and better. I was actually happy to see them challenge us in the first game, because for us and our ambitions, we need to be pushed. When we are pushed, it’s actually good for us, it makes us learn.”

Statistically for Miami Trace, Kylie Yeazel led in aces with three, followed by Addyson Butts and Allison Carter each with two and Lauren Guess, Cecilia Robinson and Syndey Carter each with one.

Sydney Carter led in digs with 17, followed by Allison Carter with 15, Robinson and Yeazel with eight, Lauren Farrens with five, Guess with four, Butts with two and Ellie Hoppes with one.

Butts led in kills with 17, followed by Farrens and Guess with seven, Robinson with five, Yeazel with four and Ellie Robinette and Brooklyn Radcliff with one.

Guess led in solo blocks with three and Butts had one.

Miami Trace (12-0, 6-0 FAC) will take part in the Circleville Invitational Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. The first team the Panthers will face is Circleville. There are eight teams in the tournament. The format is best two out of three sets.
