The following local meetings and events are scheduled. Much of this calendar is courtesy of Fayette County Travel & Tourism:

Miami Trace Elementary LPDC meeting – Sept. 25

The Miami Trace Elementary LPDC meeting will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 4:05 p.m. in the MT Elementary first floor conference room. Guests are welcome. Please make sure that you have turned in any earned CEUs from the 2023 – 2024 school year. New teachers {non-RESA} please submit your IPDP.

Banned Book Club – Year of Wonders – Sept. 25

Come join Salty Broads Patio for this month’s banned book – Year of Wonders by Geraldine Brooks. The event is located at 216 E. Court St. and begins at 7 p.m.

Salty Trivia Finale Night – Sept. 26

It is the last night of Trivia who will be the big winner of the season? Will “Just here for a good time with Captain Dick” hold onto their lead, will “Rainbow Broads” knock them down a peg or will a new team come out of nowhere. Prizes for the day and for the season so you can still win even if it is your first time. Come show off your smarts at Salty Broads Patio. The event is located at 216 E. Court St. and begins at 7 p.m.

2024 Chamber Golf Outing – Sept. 27

Join the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce for a day of golf and networking. The event will take place at Buckeye Hills Country Club and will run from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

Ohio Hospice Golf Classic -Sept. 27

Join Ohio’s Hospice for their 2024 Golf Classic at Snow Hill Country Club in New Vienna. Enjoy a day of golf, breakfast, lunch, snacks, drinks, and games of chance all to support their continued mission of serving patients, families and the community. $95 per golfer $350 team of four Includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, breakfast, lunch, drinks and snacks. Proceeds benefit Ohio’s Hospice patient care and services. The event will run from 7:45 a.m.-2 p.m.

Cooking and Nutrition Classes – Sept. 27

Join the Fayette County Family YMCA for their upcoming Cooking and Nutrition Classes with OSU Fayette Extension. These classes are free and open to the public, so bring your friends and family for some delicious learning. The class will run from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.

WHS/WMS Picture Retakes – Sept. 27

Students at Washington High School and Washington Middle School who were absent on Picture Day or want another chance to smile for the camera will have the opportunity to get their pictures retaken on Friday, Sept. 27, during school hours.

MTHS Class of 1974’s 50th reunion – Sept. 27, 28

The Miami Trace High School Class of 1974 is planning its 50-year class reunion for Sept. 27 and 28. If you graduated that year, please call Robin Beekman at 740-426-8897 with your current address.

Wayne Twp Fire and Rescue Fish Fry – Sept. 28

Support the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Association at their annual Fish Fry! Fish dinner is $10 and includes two sides and a drink, Fish Sandwich $8, Kids Meal $5 ($0.50 upcharge if purchased with credit card). The event will take place at Wayne Township Hall and will run from 12-5 p.m.

Drive-Thru Flu Vaccination – Sept. 30

Fayette County Public Health (FCPH) will host a drive-thru flu vaccination clinic on Monday, Sept. 30, from 1-7 p.m. at the Fayette County Fairgrounds. No appointment is necessary. Please bring an ID and your health insurance card. For a list of accepted insurance providers, visit faycohd.org or call 740-335-5910. The cash price is $43 for a regular flu vaccine or $94 for a flu block or high-dose flu vaccine. Assistance may be available for those without insurance who are unable to pay.

Retired Teachers Association meeting – Oct. 3

The next meeting of the Fayette County Retired Teachers Association will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3 at Grace Methodist Church. The social hour will begin at 11 a.m., lunch will be served at noon, and a program will follow at 1 p.m. The program will include a memorial service for all members who passed away this past year, a 50/50 Raffle, and a brief message from ORTA Representative. Lunch is $13 and reservations may be made up until the Friday before to Elise Garringer.

Live Music at the Elks – Oct. 4

Let the good times roll at the Elks Lodge #129 in Washington Court House, Ohio with live music from the Naked Karate Girls! Food trucks, beer garden and dance the night away! The event will run from 5:30-10 p.m. Food trucks will be on hand from 6-9 p.m.

“A Light in the Dark” Glow Walk – Oct. 5

Save the Date for the second annual “Light in the Dark” Glow Walk for Suicide Prevention Awareness! The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. at Tony’s Welding and Fabrication Stadium, Miami Trace Local Schools.

Peterson Fall Fest – Oct. 6

State Rep. Bob Peterson invites the community out to his farm for the annual Peterson Fall Fest on Sunday, Oct. 6, 4-7 p.m. There will be plenty of fun for the whole family including hayrides, pumpkin chunkin’, cider pressing, kettle corn over the fire, pumpkin smashing, warm donuts and bbq. The cost is $25/person or $50/family. The Peterson Farm is located at 5564 Grassy Branch Rd, Sabina.

Fayette County & Communities Thoroughfare Plan Steering Committee Meeting – Oct. 7

The next meeting of the Fayette County & Communities Thoroughfare Plan Steering Committee, Key Corridors, will be held at 2 p.m at the Evelyn Pentzer Meeting Room, 101 E. East St., in Washington C.H. At this meeting, they will review and discuss the draft plan recommendations.

Yoga on the Patio – Oct. 10

Come join Indigo Roots for some outdoor yoga on the patio at Salty Broads! ** Rain location is inside Indigo Roots. The event will take place at 216 E. Court St. at 7 p.m.
