WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE, Ohio — City Economic Development Director Chelsie Baker gave her report to the Washington City Council at its last meeting and reported 31 open projects currently ongoing.
Baker said that October is Manufacturing Month and she would like to sponsor a tour of manufacturing businesses in Fayette County for high school juniors and seniors who might be undecided about their future career choices. Baker said she is contacting the schools for input.
Baker said that the old McKesson building at the Industrial Park, and the Chappell Door facility on State Route 22 East are both currently available for warehouse rental space.
The Persinger Pilates business, a yoga studio, is moving into the Langley building at 244 E. Court St. as soon as renovations are completed and will reopen for business on Nov. 11, 2024.
The property between Holiday Inn Express and the Home Depot shopping area is being considered for a gas station built on State Route 62 and Commerce Boulevard. An adjacent lot is in negotiations for a medical office, according to Baker.
The local Chamber of Commerce golf outing has been rescheduled for Oct. 11 at Buckeye Hills Golf Course.
Baker said that the OSU Extension Office will be losing Tony Sanor as of Oct. 8, when he leaves to relocate to Texas. OSU will be doing a nationwide search to replace Sanor as the community and economic development educator.
