For the second consecutive year, the Miami Trace Local School District Attendance Committee held its Attendance Awareness Poster Contest. In late summer, the committee met to plan the September campaign for Attendance Awareness Month, maintaining the slogan, “Your Future Starts With Being Here Today.” The campaign emphasizes the strong connection between good attendance and student success, both now and in the future.

Students across all grades were invited to submit artwork highlighting the importance of attending school. Kindergarten through second graders teamed up with their classmates to take part in a coloring contest, while students in grades 3-12 created posters. From hundreds of entries, one winner was selected from each school building, along with a K-2 coloring contest winner. The winning posters will be enlarged and displayed on banners in front of each school building during the month of October.

This year’s winners are: Mrs. Green’s kindergarten class, fifth grader Leighton Maurer, seventh grader Korie Bennett, and 11th grader Brooklyn Carr.

The Miami Trace Academic and Athletic Boosters generously donated $50 Amazon gift cards for the middle and high school winners and sponsored pizza parties for elementary winners and their classmates. These students will enjoy a pizza celebration at the board office with Superintendent Kim Pittser and Assistant Superintendent Rob Enochs.

Thanks to the collective efforts of the school community, Miami Trace has seen significant improvements in student attendance, which allows the district to better meet the needs of all students.

“Miami Trace’s focus on attendance is about more than just the present — it’s about preparing students to meet their full potential, something Panther Nation can be MTProud of.”
