WCHCS to host Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee

Washington Court House City Schools is gearing up for its annual Halloween celebration and is encouraging local businesses and organizations to join the fun. Scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 24, from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the event will transform the Washington High School cafeteria into a festive Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee.

Much like previous Trunk-or-Treat events, children will enjoy “trick-or-treating” in a safe, fun atmosphere.

This year, however, the district is putting a fresh twist on the celebration by encouraging volunteers to get creative and carve or paint pumpkins to decorate their spaces. Children will not only see the artistic talents of their teachers and neighbors but will also vote on their favorite pumpkin designs.

In a change from previous years, the district is planning for the event to take place indoors from the start, as many recent Halloween events have been moved inside due to weather.

“With unpredictable October weather in Ohio, we decided to host the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee indoors from the beginning,” said event organizer Bailey Huff, a social worker at WCHCS. “This allows volunteers to prepare their booths without worrying about the weather, and kids can show off their costumes without making last-minute changes.”

Local businesses, organizations, and service groups are encouraged to participate in the event as well.

“We’re always looking for ways to bring the community together,” Huff added. “This is a great opportunity for local groups to engage with local families.”

Groups interested in participating should contact Bailey Huff at [email protected] or by phone at 740-335-1810.

This event is one of many family engagement opportunities offered at WCHCS throughout the year. With community support, the Jack-O-Lantern Jubilee promises to be a fall highlight for Fayette County families.
