Washington Fire Department Assistant Chief Jody Langley was setting up for the Washington Fire Department open house on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2024. The open house included gift bags, activities, candy for the kids, and they collected $127 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, (MDA) with the bucket-lift opportunity and donations.

Amy Wright and her granddaughter, Aurora Oiler, went up on the bucket lift with firefighter Mike Wilson to experience the view from 100 feet up in the air on ladder truck 138.

Aurora Oiler was trying out the fire hose with instructions from firefighter Brian Crooks.

Box 65 was there and their volunteers were showing visitors what services they perform for the firefighters. (L-R) Donna Hughes, Capt. Brian Crooks, and George Spears, of Box 65.

Shawn Remington and George Spears took a ride on the bucket lift with firefighter Mike Wilson. The lift goes up almost 100 feet for a nice view of the downtown area. (L-R) Remington, Spears and Wilson.

Taylor Williams took a ride in the remote controlled mini fire truck, which the fire department was able to purchase from funds donated to National Fire Safety where they purchase protection equipment. The money the department received also purchased fire safety books for school children from kindergarten to fifth grade.
