What’s happening at Carnegie Library?

The Great Pumpkin Show is underway! People of all ages are invited to decorate their own pumpkins at home and bring them to Carnegie Public Library for a special display. Here’s how it works: Grab a pumpkin from a local farm or store. Choose your favorite size and shape! Next, get creative! You can use paint, markers, glitter, and other craft supplies to decorate your pumpkin. Let your imagination run wild—go for spooky, silly, or seasonal designs! Please don’t puncture or carve your pumpkin. We will dispose of rotting pumpkins! Between Oct. 15 and 18, bring your pumpkin to the library. We’ll have a designated area to display all your creations! All pumpkins will be on display until Nov. 1. After the show is over, you can pick up your pumpkin between Nov. 1 and 5.

For children and families: Join us for storytime! Preschool aged children and their siblings are invited to “Bonnie’s Books” in Jeffersonville on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. Children will listen to a story, make a craft, play, and socialize. This program is held at Jeffersonville United Methodist Church. Then, each Thursday at 10:30 a.m., in the library meeting room, Miss Raina leads “Little Wigglers” storytime. This storytime is for our youngest patrons and includes music, rhyming, and reading and is designed for babies and toddlers ages birth to 3. And, on Fridays at 10:30 a.m., Mr. Aaron hosts Hello, Friends! This preschool storytime includes books, music, games, and more. For preschoolers ages 3 and up.

Homeschool Library Day takes place each Wednesday at 1 p.m. Meet each week for a different activity! On Wednesday, Oct. 23, we will have Lego at the Library Day! Stop by the library anytime from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. and build, then add your masterpiece to the display shelf! For kids of all ages. Central Ohio Music Therapy will present “Sprouting Melodies” on Friday, Oct. 25 at 10:30 a.m. Sprouting Melodies is an award-winning music therapy-based early childhood program to create child-centered musical experiences for the whole family. Learn and grow through fun interactive singing, instrument playing, and movement to music. This program is made possible by the Fayette County Travel and Tourism Bureau.

Coming up for adults: on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at 10 a.m. is Phone Clinic! Bring your devices—smartphones, tablets, and laptops—and get personalized assistance. Whether you need help with library apps, troubleshooting issues, or learning basic functions, we’re here to guide you through. Then, on Thursday, Oct. 24 at 4 p.m. is Average Art with Averie: Creative Journaling. We will create a one-of-a-kind journal using paper bags, tissue paper, magazines, stickers, ribbon, and washi tape. Supplies will be provided. This program is for both teens and adults.

All programs are free unless otherwise noted. Some programs require registration.
