The following fire reports were released by the Washington Fire Department (WFD):

June 15 – 346 Jamison Road

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office requesting lift assistance with the Fayette County Life Squad. FD provided manpower.

June 15 – 1430 Columbus Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a general fire alarm, zone 1. FD did not find any smoke or fire at the time of arrival and noted no evacuation in progress. FD checked the enunciator panel at registration and found it in the ready mode. Personnel in registration advised security authorized the system to be silenced and reset. Registration employees were able to provide the alarm code; Med-Surg Smoke 324. FD was notified by dispatch, the alarm company was now advising to cancel, false alarm. FD asked to be shown the room and found construction dust activated the smoke detectors. Maintenance advised of similar work being completed over the next few weeks.

June 15 – 1450 Columbus Ave.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office reporting a general fire alarm, zone 1. FD was notified prior to arriving on scene of the alarm company now advising to disregard, false alarm. FD was advised by maintenance/security personnel that the system was unintentionally set-off due to training.

June 14 – 3057 Prarie Road

Received call from citizen reporting residents burning trash. FD found two separate trash containers actively burning at the time of arrival. FD investigation found household. waste and rubbish being burnt and advised occupants of the burning laws and regulations and extinguished both fires.

June 14 – 718 High St.

FD was requested for the smell of gas. FD made contact with the caller who advised that there was no smell of gas inside the structure. The smell of gas was outside. FD checked the area and were unable to locate a problem.

June 13 – 1238 E. Temple St.

FD was requested to assist Fayette County EMS.

June 13 – Circle Ave.

FD responded to the report of arching power lines. FD checked the area, and no problems were located.

June 12 – 244 W. High St.

Received station tone from the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office requesting a mutual aid first response for Jefferson Township FD, odor of gas inside the residence. FD investigation did find a natural gas leak in the line supplying the furnace and hot water heater. FD was not able to isolate the leak and shut off the supply of natural gas at the exterior meter. FD assisted with ventilation and requested AES to be notified of the shut-off.

June 10 – 1809 Columbus Ave.

FD was dispatched to a fire alarm activation. Prior to responding, FD was advised of a false alarm. FD continued the response. On arrival, FD made contact with building staff who advised a kid fell and accidentally grabbed the pull station outside room 228. FD checked the pull station to ensure it was reset and cleared the scene.

June 7 – 1295 Columbus Ave.

FD received station tones for an alarm activation. FD arrived on scene with no smoke or fire showing. FD talked with an employee who advised FD that she was opening the store and noticed some smoke, so she shut off smoke breakers and unplugged an extension cord. The employee unlocked the door so FD members could go inside. FD did not notice any smoke in the building at that time. FD found a wire on the back door security system that appeared to have been hot and overheated. FD members found an extension cord running under the back door, that that had some bare wires showing, there were signs that the bare wires had arced on the bottom of the door when the door was shut on them. FD requested that someone from the Health Department show up on scene. Two members of the FD stayed on scene to wait on the Health Department. FD told occupants to have the electric check before opening.

June 6 – 1741 Washington Ave.

FD received station tones for a fire in the trees and brush behind the Washington Cemetery. FD arrived on scene and found fire in the trees and brush. Members of the FD extinguished the fire and hot spots. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.

June 6 – 1662 US-22 W

FD received station tones for a fire alarm activation with water flow. FD arrived on scene and talked to an employer of the business who advised FD that there was someone working on a sprinkler head. The service company put the wrong code into the alarm system which caused it to activate.

June 5 – 1233 S. Main St.

FD responded to arching powerlines. FD requested AES to respond to the scene. FD stood by until released by AES.

June 4 – 19 Colonial Ct.

FD was requested to assist Fayette County EMS

June 4 – 1809 Columbus Ave. Apt. 222

FD was requested to first respond for Fayette County EMS.
