WASHINGTON COURT HOUSE – Fayette Veterinary Hospital recently marked a significant milestone as it officially broke ground on its highly-anticipated new facility.

The groundbreaking ceremony signifies the commencement of construction for a cutting-edge veterinary center that aims to set new standards in pet care within the community, according to hospital officials. They have partnered with Merchant’s National Bank and Morton Buildings to help bring this facility to the community.

The new center will be located at 1974 Columbus Ave. behind the original building.

Dr. Daryl Waits, the visionary behind the project, expressed enthusiasm about the groundbreaking, saying, “This marks the beginning of a new era for pet care in our community. We are excited about the opportunities this state-of-the-art facility will bring to the community and we want to be able to service as many pet owners as possible.”

This event brought together members of the local community, veterinary professionals, and family to witness the initiation of this transformative project. Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the innovative features planned for the facility and the positive impact it will have on pet health and well-being.

FVH has spent the past 70 plus years servicing the community. The business has outgrown the current facility, officials said. With the company expecting two new veterinarians to join the organization within the next four years and growing clientele, building a new clinic is the right move.

The facility’s design prioritizes efficiency, functionality, and a welcoming atmosphere to ensure a positive experience for both pets and their owners, according to officials. The new facility will be close to 10,000 square foot under roof. It will house one surgical suite with two surgery tables, six exam rooms and the room to purchase and install a CT machine.

Additionally, Fayette Veterinary Hospital will be equipped with the latest advancements in veterinary technology, empowering the staff to provide comprehensive and advanced care, as well as house a pull through large animal area with a squeeze chute and horse stocks.

Dr. Waits’ children also plan to offer acupuncture and chiropractic care for performance animals once they join the practice in 2026 and 2027.

Construction is expected to be completed by 2025, with a grand opening celebration planned to follow.

“Fayette Veterinary Hospital looks forward to continuing its commitment to excellence in veterinary care through this groundbreaking initiative,” states a news release. “FVH would like to extend their thanks to the Fayette County Chamber of Commerce for coordinating the ceremony and look forward to many more years of serving the community.”
