Panthers fall at Div. I Hilliard Davidson, 61-54

HILLIARD — The Miami Trace Panthers varsity basketball team visited Hilliard Davidson Saturday, Jan. 20 to take on the Division I Wildcats.

In a close, physical game, the Wildcats emerged with a 61-54 victory.

Hilliard Davidson improved to 7-5 overall and will play 14-0 Olentangy Orange Tuesday, Jan. 23.

Davidson plays at 9-4 Hilliard Bradley Friday.

Miami Trace is now 11-4 overall and will return to Frontier Athletic Conference play at Jackson Friday night. The freshman game is scheduled to begin at 4:45 p.m.

Miami Trace will host Waverly Saturday. The j-v game will start at 5 p.m.

Davidson attempted 23 three-point field goals and made 10.

Junior Patrick Lynch was the game’s leading scorer for the Wildcats with 18 points. He was 6 of 7 from the foul line and made two threes.

Junior Drew Remlinger made four threes and finished with 14 points while senior Ben Oakley made three threes and ended the game with 11 points.

Miami Trace sophomore Adam Guthrie led his team with 17 points and eight rebounds.

Senior Bryson Osborne scored 15 points and made three three-point field goals. He also had two steals.

Senior Austin Boedeker made one three and finished with eight points. He also had five rebounds, a team-high four assists, two steals and one blocked shot.

Senior Coleden May scored five points. He made one three-point shot and totaled five rebounds.

Sophomore Grant Guess scored five points and had six rebounds.

Senior Brady Armstrong scored four points and blocked one shot and junior Skye Salyers blocked one shot.

Davidson led 15-13 at the end of the first quarter.

At the half, it was the Wildcats in front, 33-28.

Miami Trace’s best quarter was the third, in which they outscored Davidson, 19-9 to take a 47-42 lead.

However, the Wildcats turned the tables on the Panthers, winning the fourth quarter, 19-7 for the 61-54 victory.
